Retired Sgt. Robert F. Sullivan – Lincoln

Retired Sgt. Robert F. Sullivan, 86, of Lincoln, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of the late Barbara (Jamieson) Sullivan.

Born in Lincoln a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Leo F. and Elsie C. (Scott) Sullivan.

He is survived by his son Michael Sullivan of Lincoln; daughter Maureen Flowers and her husband, Joel, of Albion; grandson Owen Flowers of Albion; brother Donald Sullivan of Lincoln; sister Eleanor Passano of Lincoln; and nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Leo F. Sullivan.

Mr. Sullivan served in the Lincoln Police Department for 25 years before retiring in 1980.

He also assisted the director of security at Lincoln Downs Horse Racing Track and Lincoln Greyhound Park.

He received his associate degree cum laude in Law Enforcement Management from Salve Regina College in 1972 and his Bachelor of Science Degree cum laude in 1973.

He graduated from Command Training Institute, New England Institute of Law Enforcement Management at Babson College in 1977.

He continued his education attending seminars at Dean College and the R.I. Attorney General’s Department. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

He had been an active member and past president of the Lincoln Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #22; American Legion Post #14 Cumberland; Knights of Columbus Lincoln Council #4005; and the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, Cumberland.

He liked all sports, baseball, swimming, golf and jogging.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 11 a.m., at Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave., Lincoln. Burial with Military Honors will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Curran Road, Cumberland. Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
