Dianna Carol Meehan – Cumberland

Dianna Carol Meehan – Cumberland

Dianna Carol Meehan, age 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 1, 2018. Formerly of Cumberland, R.I., she resided in Sagamore Beach, Mass., and Lubec, Maine, where she owned and operated the Betsy Ross Lodging.

Born September 18, 1943, in Providence, R.I., she is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Valentina (Ballestrini) Buldrighini and her beloved husband of 54 years, William P. Meehan Jr.

A graduate of the Finnan’s School of Cosmetology in 1967, she worked alongside her sisters to practice the art of hairdressing at Vilma’s Hairstyling Salon in Cumberland. Dianna and her husband Bill also owned and operated Excelsior Security and then founded and operated Meehan Armored Inc. from 1980 to 1997. Due to their enjoyment of serving the public, from 1999 to the present, the husband and wife team opened and operated the Betsy Ross Lodging and the original Atlantic House Coffee and Deli Shop in Lubec, Maine.

Dianna’s true passion was spending time with her family, celebrating and hosting their many holidays and life events in Sagamore Beach. Every summer, she eagerly headed to Lubec to entertain her many guests at the Betsy Ross Lodging, again, the perfect hostess. She especially enjoyed her visits with her sisters, “The Golden Girls,” cooking, card-playing and reminiscing as they added to their long list of loving memories.

Dianna is survived by her brother Bruno (Connie) Buldrighini of Seville, Fla., and two sisters, Vilma Carboni and Sylvia (Roger) Baril, both of Port Charlotte, Fla.; four children, her son, William P. Meehan III of Sagamore Beach, Mass., and three daughters, Deborah Carol (David) Renaud of North Kingstown, R.I., Marjorie Ann (Frank) Harnedy of Little Compton, R.I. and Dawn Irene (Ernie) Alden of West Wareham, Mass.; and her grandchildren, David Jr., Kaitlynn, Meaghan, Frankie, Nate, Connor, Emmaline, and her great-granddaughter, Sophia, all who will miss her dearly and remember fondly all the care she took to make things extra special.

Dianna’s Life Celebration will be held on Tuesday, May 8, beginning with Calling Hours at 9 am., in the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., in the Historic St. Joseph’s Church, 1303 Mendon Rd., Cumberland.

Burial will follow at the Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
