Frederick C. Martel – North Attleboro, Mass.

Frederick C. Martel, 79, of Peck Street, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at home. He was the husband of Janice (Ladabauche) Martel.

Born in Cumberland, R.I., on March 30, 1939, he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Stella (Pietras) Martel.

Fred grew up in Cumberland and attended Cumberland schools. He has been a resident of North Attleboro since 1982.

He worked for Ferland Construction of R.I. and he was a custodian at Martin School, North Attleboro, for 25 years before retiring in the spring of 2016.

Fred served his country in the United States Army.

He enjoyed all sports but especially golf, bowling, and playing tennis. He liked to travel to the northern states and enjoyed his time working in the yard.

In addition to his wife, Janice, he is survived by his daughter Donna Lee Segal of Jamestown, R.I.; his step-children, Debra Hadley and her husband, Danny, of Blackstone, Mass., Scott Barrett of Attleboro, Mass., and Ronald Barrett and his wife, Joan, of Attleboro; his siblings, Lorretta DeVito of Johnston, R.I., and Joseph J. Martel and his wife, Janice, of Cumberland, and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting for Fred will be held in the Sperry McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Thursday, May 10, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m., with a service immediately following at 7 p.m.
