Joan F. Taylor – Smithfield

Joan F. Taylor, 79, of Higgins Street, Smithfield, died Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care in Providence. She was the widow of Robert B. Taylor, who died in 1994.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Anna (McGinn) Alves. She had lived in Smithfield for many years.

Joan was a graduate of St. Mary’s of the Visitation in 1956. She had worked as a Career Counselor at the Center in Woonsocket for 12 years before retiring.

She is survived by her children: Kathleen Burns of Wakefield, Robert Taylor of Providence, Scott Taylor of Islip, N.Y.; her grandchildren: Victoria and Robert Burns and her dearest friend of 70 years Gloria Catalfomo. She is predeceased by her sister, Patricia L. Alves.

The Taylor family would like to thank Hope Hospice and Palliative Care for the care and compassion they gave their mother.

Her funeral service was held Monday, May 7 in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Greenville. Burial followed in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston.
