Joseph L. Fougere – Cumberland

Joseph L. Fougere, 58, of Cumberland, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, June 10, 2018.

He was happily married to Lisa (Orfan) Fougere for 30 years and was the beloved father of Kristen and Julie Fougere. Adopted from Hong Kong, China, he was the son of Louis and Nancy (Stephenson) Fougere.

He is also survived by his siblings, Sandra Cummings, Ann Musto, Michael Fougere, Katherine Gallant, James Fougere, Jeannette Watka, Amy Godeaux, and the late Stephen Fougere.

Joe graduated from Bourne High School in 1977 and Western New England College in 1981. He loved playing a part in planning his high school reunions and staying connected to all of his classmates. After graduating from WNEC, Joe started what would become a successful career in Information Technology. At the time of his passing, Joe was Director of Application Support Engineering for IntraLinks.

Joe touched the lives of many people in the short time he had here. Many neighbors, lacrosse volunteers, and colleagues were all proud to call him a close friend. Most Saturdays you could find Joe visiting with his friends at Don’s diner over pancakes and a “cup of joe.” One of the many ways he showed his love for friends and family was sharing memorable moments through the slideshow videos he created. The world was a made a kinder place with Joe in it and he will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, June 15, at 11 a.m., in Saint John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland, R.I. Visiting hours are Thursday from 5-8 p.m., in the O’Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland, R.I. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations can be made to Hope Health of RI or the Roger Williams Cancer Center. In Joe’s words, “I truly believe some day this will be a sickness that you can recover from like a common cold.”
