Donabedian running again

LINCOLN – Lincoln School Committee Chairwoman Kristine Donabedian has declared her candidacy for re-election to the committee’s District 3 seat, which she has held since 2007.

“I have declared my candidacy out of a sense of commitment and responsibility to the public school students in the town of Lincoln,” Donabedian said. “Our school district is undergoing transitions in leadership and a major renovation of our flagship, Lincoln High School. Continuity in governance will be critical during this pivotal period.”

She continued, “If elected, I pledge to hold office with transparency and concern for the collective good of our students, residents and community.”

Donabedian’s accomplishments during her tenure on the school board include implementation of full-day kindergarten, implementing state-of-the-art technology, and upgrading security systems in each of the district’s six school buildings. Donabedian, who has served as chairwoman since 2012, has also served on the budget subcommittee, policy subcommittee, and the health and wellness committee.

If re-elected, Donabedian said she would focus on “educational and enrichment opportunities designed to foster the whole student, including advanced placement offerings, career and technical education, athletics, the arts and virtual learning.”

“We need to take a world view towards educating our youth in order to prepare them for a future that is in a continual state of change,” she said. “The goal will be to meet the needs of our students in an evolving environment while employing the prudent fiscal management that taxpayers expect and deserve.”

Donabedian is an attorney with more than 25 years of experience, and is employed by CVS Health Corp. as senior legal counsel – real estate. She grew up in Lincoln, attended the Lincoln Public Schools and is a graduate of Lincoln High School, Villanova University and Suffolk University Law School. She lives on Angell Road in Lincoln with her husband, Hagop Jawharjian, and their three children, ages 17, 15 and 13.
