Shorey named ‘40 Under Forty’ winner

CUMBERLAND – Valley Breeze Managing Editor Ethan Shorey has been named by Providence Business News as one of its “40 Under Forty” winners for 2018.

“The women and men to be recognized in the 2018 edition of the competition were chosen from nearly 200 applicants, the most submissions PBN has ever received, and they will be profiled in an upcoming special section of PBN,” states the publication in an announcement.

It adds, “The 40 Under Forty winners were selected based on career success and community involvement. All are young professionals who have committed to making a difference on a local, national or international scale.”

Shorey, 36, said he’s grateful for the honor.

“I’m thrilled about the recognition, and even more happy that it will bring attention to the importance of quality local news coverage to community life,” he said.

Shorey has been with The Breeze his entire career. He lives in Cumberland with his wife, Mikaela, and children, Wesley, 7, Everett, 4, and Añalia, 2.

In addition, two board of directors members of the Northern R.I. Chamber of Commerce, in Lincoln, were honored. They include Junior Jabbie, president of Banneker Industries in North Smithfield, and Elizabeth Catucci, director of marketing at Batchelor, Frechette, McCrory, Michael & Co., accountants.
