Four from Troop 1 Arnold Mills achieve Eagle Scout

CUMBERLAND – Four Boy Scouts from Troop 1 Arnold Mills were elevated to the rank of Eagle Scout in a Court of Honor June 17 at Arnold Mills United Methodist Church, Nate Whipple Highway.

About 100 family members, friends, dignitaries and Scouts were on hand to celebrate. Scoutmaster Len Bradley presented the honors, while former Scoutmaster Bill Smith acted as master of ceremony.

The new Eagle Scouts, all Cumberland residents, are:

• Peter McMichael, son of Peter and Colleen McMichael. Peter is a graduate of Bishop Hendricken, earned 33 merit badges, earned a Bronze & Gold Palm and is a member of the Order of the Arrow. For his Eagle project, he created and installed a walking trail at Franklin Farm. He has enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, R.I. Air National Guard 143rd Airlift Wing.

• Mitchell Mudge, son of Rob and Denise Mudge. Mitchell graduated from Tanglewood Homeschool, earned 34 merit badges, earned a Bronze & Gold Palm and is a member of the Order of the Arrow and OA Brotherhood. For his Eagle project, he constructed a hay wagon for the Franklin Farm. He will study mechanical engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He joins his brother Kyle as Eagle Scout.

• Ian Zito, son of Russ and Laura Zito. He earned 27 merit badges, earned a Bronze Palm and is a member of the Order of the Arrow. A Cumberland High School graduate, Zito built a 24-foot square chicken enclosure for Franklin Farm’s educational program. He will attend Roger Williams University in the fall to study electrical engineering.

• James Irons, son of Phil and Debra Irons. James is a recent graduate of Cumberland High School. He earned 31 merit badges, earned a Bronze & Gold Palm and is a member of the Order of the Arrow and OA Brotherhood. For his Eagle project, James created and filled 100 Art Bins for the Cumberland/ Lincoln Boys & Girls Club. He will attend UMass Dartmouth to study graphic design. James joins his father as an Eagle Scout.
