Mary Lee Henderson – Cumberland

Mary Lee ( Chaplin ) Henderson, 83, of Stephens Way, died Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Eugene D. Henderson.

Born in Newberry, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Alberta Chaplin.

Mary worked for Finkelstein's for several years and AT Cross prior to retiring.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Most of all she was a very spiritual person who was very active in her religion and church.

She was a member of St. James Baptist Church where she was former President of the Senior Choir, Usher Board Member, Pastor’s Aide Society, and the Alberta Chaplin Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Essence Club and Eastern Star.

She is survived by one son, Carnell Henderson, and his wife, Jesuina, of Cumberland; one daughter, Cynthia Henderson, of Woonsocket; and five grandchildren, Justi Armstrong, Mekhi, Zhamaine, Ciell and Carnell Henderson.

She was also the mother of the late Gregory and Curtis Henderson and sister of the late Theodore and Fletcher Chaplin.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 11 a.m., in St. James Baptist Church, 340 South Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Wrentham Road, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited; calling hours are on Friday, July 27, 2018, from 4-7 p.m., in St. James Baptist Church.
