Antonio Ferreira – Cumberland

It is with deep regret that the family announces the passing of Antonio Ferreira on August 5, 2018, at his home in Bonita Springs, Florida.

"Tony" was born in Central Falls, R.I., on March 16, 1931, to Antonio and Delphina (Lemos) Ferreira. In his early years Tony lived in Cumberland and had homes in Acton and Carlisle, Mass., Narraganset, R.I., and for the last 20 years in Bonita Springs, Fla.

Tony was the last sibling of seven, predeceased by brothers Gus, and Peter and sisters Isabel, Beatrice, Sarah and Marie.

Tony is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara; sons Steven and Eric and their spouses, Christine and Shelly.

After proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict, Tony returned to the United States taking a position as salesman at Scartenbergs in Pawtucket, R.I., where he met his wife, Barbara.

In 1966, Tony established Bradford Furniture Company in Concord, Mass- growing and expanding over 35 years to include eight locations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Tony was an avid reader, loved to travel, gardening, card playing, & all sports. Tony was a strong swimmer who enjoyed riding the waves with his sons on Narragansett Beach. He was a passionate student of history and his vast library includes editions from ancient civilizations to modern times.

His professional affiliations include the board of directors of the National Home Furnishings Association, and Certificates of Excellence from Thomasville University.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, August 19, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m., at JJ Duffy Funeral Home 757 Mendon Road, Cumberland, R.I. Burial will be private.
