Smithfield Avenue Congregational invites people ‘Back to Church Sunday’

PAWTUCKET – Smithfield Avenue Congregational Church, 514 Smithfield Ave., is joining National Back to Church Sunday this Sunday, Sept. 16.

Now in its 10th year, Back to Church Sunday is the largest annual community-based church outreach effort in the nation, its organizers say.

The campaign empowers churches and their members with the tools they need to welcome their neighbors, friends and loved ones back to church, while providing a way for people in the community to find a welcoming church.

This year’s special 10 a.m. service will have a guest speaker, Rick Smith of Life Development. Overcoming challenging health circumstances and life-threatening ailments has been Smith’s story.

The worship hour will be followed by a time of coffee, and fellowship in Lindh Hall. A new adult Bible Study will also be held in the library from 11:15 a.m. to noon, focusing on Unshakable Hope – 12 Promises of God. All are invited.
