Joseph “Joe” Crawford Harrod – Kentucky

Joseph “Joe” Crawford Harrod, 23, of Shelbyville, passed away in an automobile accident in North Carolina on Saturday, September 22, 2018.

He was a member of Finchville Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Collins High School in 2013 and attended Bluegrass Community College.

He had many loves in his life including playing baseball; where later he became an umpire and he was a giant Boston Red Sox fan. He also loved music, playing guitar and Hackney ponies. At the age of 16, Joe became a World Grand Champion with his Hackney pony, Heartland Riverdance. Joe was a recipient of the American Hackney Society’s, “Spirit of the Youth Medallion” National Award. His great spirit of sportsmanship and comradery carried through to all aspects of his life. His warm smile and infectious laugh made him a favorite of many.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald “Jerry” Harrod; sister, Michelle “Mickey” Harrod; maternal grandparents, Joseph Crawford and Ruth Crawford; and paternal grandparents, Maxine and John E. Harrod.

He is survived by his mother, Susanne Harrod, Shelbyville; brothers, Scott Harrod (Melissa), North Vernon, IN, Chris Harrod (Missy), Lawrenceburg, John Harrod (Samantha), North Vernon, IN, Shaughn Harrod (Shannon), Parkland, Fla. He was also loved by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at the Shannon Funeral Home in Shelbyville, Ky. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
