Muriel F. O’Connor – Lincoln

Muriel F. (Saillant) O’Connor, 90, formerly of 14 Laurel Lane, Lincoln, R.I., passed away on October 25, 2018, at The Holiday Retirement Home.

She was the widow of William A. O’Connor, formerly of Pawtucket, and the mother of Timothy M. O’Connor of North Providence.

Born in Woonsocket, R.I., she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Evelina (Lariviere) Saillant. She lived in Lincoln for the past 54 years, the majority of that time in the Village of Quinville.

She leaves, her son, Timothy, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer; three stepdaughters, Ellen O’Connor, Kathleen O’Connor and Ann O’Connor Hughes, and her dearly beloved friend, Jo-Ellen Tramontana, of Cumberland. She was predeceased by her sister, Iola (Saillant) Fanning, formerly of Providence, and two brothers, Arthur Saillant, formerly of Houston, Texas, and Theodore Saillant, formerly of Woonsocket.

Throughout her life, Muriel had a great love of animals and nature. She was a frequent visitor to the Blackstone Valley Bikeway, walking her many dogs. All should take great comfort that she is now reunited with her many pets, whom she loved dearly.

Prior to her retirement in 1991, she was the bookkeeper/secretary at the Lincoln Public Library and at Lincoln High School, and previously worked at the Blackstone Valley Gas and Electric Company. In retirement, she did volunteer work for the town of Lincoln, the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, and served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Jude Church in Lincoln.

A Mass of Christian Burial, to which family and friends are invited, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018, at the Parish of Saint Jude, 301 Front St., Lincoln. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Smithfield Avenue, Pawtucket.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Parish Memorial Fund or the Lincoln Animal Shelter, 25 Wellington Rd., Lincoln, RI 02865.
