Kenneth W. de Hertogh – Cumberland

Kenneth W. de Hertogh, in his 90th year, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at the Brentwood by the Bay, Warwick. He was the husband of the late Elaine A. (Barry) de Hertogh.

Born in Grosse Pointe, Mich., he was the son of the late Peter and Kathleen (Marksby) de Hertogh. He was a life-long resident of Cumberland.

Following his graduation from Dean Academy, he received his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from Brown University.

He was employed as a Science Teacher for the Providence School Department for 22 years. He was also the owner of several successful businesses.

Ken enjoyed singing at the German Club in Pawtucket and the Warwick Senior Center. He was a member of the Brown University Alumni Association. Most of all, Ken loved his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.

He leaves his children, Deborah de Hertogh, M.D., of Old Saybrook, Conn., Kathleen de Hertogh, of West Barnstable, Mass., Susan de Hertogh, of Warwick, Peter de Hertogh, of West Hartford, Conn., Kenneth de Hertogh, of Cumberland, and Kristin de Hertogh, of Cumberland; his nine grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. He was the longtime companion of the late Maryanne Flanigan.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
