Two arrested in Pawtucket shooting

Sergio Garcia was apprehended Thursday with the assistance of the Violent Fugitive Task Force. He was located in a house in North Providence. He is being charged with assault with intent to commit murder, conspiracy, using a firearm while committing a crime of violence, license or permit required for carrying a pistol, and firing in a compact area. He was arraigned in Sixth District Court Friday morning.


PAWTUCKET – Police have arrested two suspects in a Nov. 3 shooting at the West Avenue Convenience Store, at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue.

At around 11 p.m. that day, police were dispatched to a shooting at the store. They were told on arrival that a male victim had been shot four times and then driven to the hospital by friends. The victim was found conscious and alert at Miriam Hospital, where he is now in stable condition.

After an investigation by Det. Sue Cormier, police identified two suspects, Helton Rodrigues (pictured at left), 19, and Sergio Garcia, 18, both of Central Falls, and warrants were issued for their arrest.

On Wednesday morning, Nov. 7, with the help of the Violent Fugitive Task Force, police arrested Rodrigues at his home in Central Falls. They are still looking for Garcia, who is considered armed and dangerous, and ask that anyone with any information on his location contact the Pawtucket Police Department at 401-727-9100.
