Richard A. Stein – Scituate

Richard A. Stein, 93, longtime resident of Scituate, passed away suddenly on Veterans Day, November 11, 2018.

He was the husband of the late Celeste (DeRosa) Stein. Born in Scituate, he was the son of the late Otto and Lena (Angell) Stein.

He attended the Clayville Church in Foster for many years. He served as a deacon and was a Sunday school teacher and a trustee. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving on 552nd Field Artillery in Europe. The Battalion landed at Utah Beach in June after D Day. He also served in the Battle of the Bulge.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Beverly Tirrell, and her husband, David, of Scituate; son, Richard Stein, and his wife, Donna, of Scituate; six grandchildren: Jackie, David, Bethny, Karl, Kevin and Kristen; and eight great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Marjorie Stein Higgins and Frederick Stein.

Visitation, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9 to 10 a.m., in the Winfield & Son’s Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Road, Scituate, with a funeral service to immediately follow at 10 a.m. Burial will be held in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
