PAWTUCKET – The owner of Vibe Lounge, which opened in January on the ground floor of the McDevitt Building, 25 Broad St. in the downtown, is looking to complete a significant expansion in an adjoining space.

Victor Silva, a Shea High School graduate, told The Breeze he’s looking to add 1,500 square feet of event space to his existing 2,500 square feet of restaurant and lounge space. He said the space will be used for baby showers and other private events.

Like other downtown business owners, including the owner of Blackstone Pawtucket and The Guild, Silva says he’s committed to bringing a more vibrant nightlife to the area. The new Stillwater Books, at the corner of Main Street and Roosevelt Ave., also hosts numerous evening events.

The space Vibe Lounge is set to expand into was previously a church.

Silva is seeking an expansion of premises on his class BV victualer license from the Pawtucket City Council, sitting as the Board of License Commissioners, tonight, Nov. 20.

Silva said operating the business so far has been “a little bit of hard work, but it eventually is going to pay off.” He said he’s committed to the downtown and making Vibe Lounge a big success. The event space will be an easy sell because many people come into the lounge and immediately comment on what a beautiful space it is, he said.

The entrepreneur has brought a party atmosphere in an upscale lounge, marketing its mix of music, food and drinks to the “grown and sexy.”
