Osso named Blackstone Valley Advocacy Center Board President

PAWTUCKET – The Blackstone Valley Advocacy Center is pleased to announce Carol Osso as the new board president, effective Jan. 1.

Osso joined the board in 1998. Shortly thereafter she became board secretary until March of 2010 when she became the board’s vice president.

“I’m very excited to take on this new responsibility,” Osso said. “BVAC has seen tremendous growth in the past few years and I’m confident that will continue. I’m extremely proud of the work the staff does to help victims of domestic violence.”

“Carol has been an integral part of BVAC for over 30 years,” said Toni Marie Gomes, executive director. “Her devotion to our organization will help continue the agency’s legacy of providing comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and their families in our service area.”

With Osso becoming president, the board will incur additional changes. Board secretary, Holly Ferrara, will now become vice president and board member Siobhain Sullivan will take on responsibility as secretary. Tony Nobrega will continue to be the board’s treasurer. Shirley Carter, who has been the board president since 2010, decided to step down from her position but will remain a board member. The other members of the board include Dr. Earl Marrow and Tony Afonso.
