Learn all about maple sugar March 2-3

UXBRIDGE, Mass. – The Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park, 287 Oak St., will host Maple Sugar Days on Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3.

Free tours will be offered to the general public on a first-come, first-served basis at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Tours last about 90 minutes. Tours are open to all ages.

Free group tours will be offered Saturday and Sunday, March 9 and 10. To schedule a time, call the River Bend Farm Visitor Center at 508-278-7604.

Park staff and volunteers will take visitors through a guided tour of the art and science of tapping maple trees, gathering sap, and producing maple syrup. Learn to identify maple trees, see trees being tapped, participate in gathering sap, and visit the steamy sugar house to watch syrup being made.

Tours include both indoor and outdoor elements. Dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear for a walk of up to 1/2 mile.
