Taste of the Blackstone moves locations; adds beer and wine tasting

LINCOLN – For the first time since the inaugural Taste of the Blackstone scholarship fundraiser 11 years ago, this year’s signature event will be held at the Lincoln Senior Center, 150 Jenckes Hill Road, on Saturday, March 30, from 6 to 9 p.m.

That move will allow the Lincoln High School PACT (Parents and Community Together) to host a beer and wine tasting in conjunction with their signature food-centered fundraiser. The scholarship fundraiser has traditionally been held at Lincoln High School.

The move also precipitates a change in ticketing, as tickets will not be available at the door. Those wishing to attend the event must purchase their ticket in advance, and must be 21 or older to attend.

All funds raised during The Taste of the Blackstone will be used to award scholarships to a current LHS senior. Last year, the group awarded five $1,000 scholarships.

In addition to the beer and wine tasting, made possible by Paul’s Fine Wine & Spirits, the event features a sampling of food from local restaurants, a silent auction and raffle. Participating restaurants on the “tour-de-food” include Harry’s Burger Bar, Rocco’s Pub & Grub, Davenport’s, Lincoln Creamery and La Creperie of Providence.

Possible raffle prizes include a gondola ride at WaterFire, tickets to shows and performances at Stadium Theatre and Trinity Rep, restaurant vouchers, Red Sox tickets, a ski trip to Wachusett Mountain and memberships to the Audubon, Roger Williams Park & Zoo and the YMCA.

Tickets cost $20 and should be purchased by Friday, March 22. For tickets or more information, contact LHS PACT at lhspactri@gmail.com or call Karen Bradbury at 401-680-0146.
