Mancini Center announces support groups and events

NORTH PROVIDENCE – The North Providence Mancini Center, 2 Atlantic Blvd., announces the following programs.

• Grief Support Group by Beacon Hospice meets Thursday, March 14, from 1 to 2 p.m., for those who have experienced loss. Participants learn about the grieving process, develop coping strategies and begin to integrate these changes into their lives.

• The In-Sight Support Group will meet Tuesday, March 19, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The group brings together people who are living with vision loss to help them find ways to overcome the isolation, loneliness, and frustration that they may be feeling. • Hearing screenings and consultations will be offered by Dr. Mary Kay Uchmanowicz of Twin River Hearing Health on Wednesdays, March 20 and April 17, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. The screenins are free and no appointment is necessary.

• An Earth Day trip to Rhode Island Resource and Recovery and lunch at the English Muffin in Johnston will be held Thursday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost is $3 per person for the tour. Pay your own lunch.

• Senior Day at McCoy Stadium PawSox Game and Pre-game Bingo will be held Thursday, May 16. Bus will leave the center at 9 a.m. Trip includes reserved seats for the game and a $7 food credit. The deadline to sign up is Monday, April 8.

• Learn how to play high-low-jack at the center on Wednesdays at 10:30 p.m. 

• A new cribbage group meets at the center on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. The group is informal open to all members.
