Cumberland’s Pina earns CCC weekly honor at Wentworth

BOSTON, Mass. – Cumberland’s Ally Pina, who is a freshman outfielder on the Wentworth Institute of Technology softball team, became the first Wentworth player since 2011 to earn Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week honors, as she helped the Leopards roll out to their best start in their program’s history.

Playing at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Pina helped the Leopards win four games. In her first collegiate week, Pina batted .344 with a conference-leading 11 hits, and she also drove in two runs and scored seven times. Of her 11 hits, four went for extra bases, as she belted a pair of doubles and a pair of triples.

The former Cumberland High standout, who graduated last spring, has also been errorless in center field. She has recorded 12 putouts, thrown on a runner at the plate, and helped turn a double play.
