URI Master Gardeners announce presentations and soil testing

CUMBERLAND – The University of Rhode Island Master Gardeners start their spring presentations on Wednesday, March 27, at the Cumberland Public Library, Hayden Center, Room 2, 1464 Diamond Hill Road, at 6:30 p.m.

The public will learn about drip irrigation and rain barrels on March 27. On Wednesday, April 3, the presentation will be on pruning shrubs, trees and perennials and then on Wednesday, April 10, it will be on natural remedies, bees and pollinator habitat.

Soil testing begins Saturday, April 27, 9-11 a.m., and continues on the third Saturday of each month in the Gazebo. Free pH tests are provided. Bring a baggie with your fresh, dry soil samples from lawn, garden or shrubbery areas to determine if you have the correct pH for what you’re growing.
