WOONSOCKET – New drivers can now take their license road test in Woonsocket according to an announcement by the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles this week.

The DMV announced on Wednesday, April 3, that applicants who hold a driving permit can now schedule their required road test at the new branch office located at 2000 Diamond Hill Road in Woonsocket Plaza. The branch moved to the new office from its former Pond Street location in January.

According to the announcement, the new testing location is intended to provide a more convenient option for residents of northern Rhode Island. Prior to the change, the nearest DMV location offering driver's license tests was in Providence.

Driver's license applicants can make a reservation for their test at www.ri.gov/app/dmv/road_tests.
