George A. Sherring – Lincoln

George A. Sherring passed away peacefully at Miriam Hospital on April 7, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. George was born on April 12,1950, in Providence R.I., the son of Kunigunda (Less) Sherring of Portsmouth, R.I., and the late Arthur “Buddy” Sherring.

He will be laid to rest on the day of his 69th birthday, Friday, April 12, 2019, with family and friends gathered in celebration of his life.

On October 2, 2004, George was united in marriage with his true love and best friend Lynn (Lanzi) Sherring of Lincoln, R.I., formerly of North Providence. In their time together, they created countless memories; many of those included time spent with their growing family and incredible network of friends. George was proud to be a husband and father; however, nothing gave him more joy than becoming a grandfather. He played this role to the fullest. He cherished his time with his grandchildren and never missed a special event or activity. He was endeared to them and affectionately known as Grandpa George.

George had a successful career as Vice President at RBC Industries, an epoxy resin manufacturer in Warwick, R.I. When not working, George enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He faithfully watched Monday night football (cheering on the Oakland Raiders) with his son Josh. When friends and family gathered to play cards, George was always ready to make his famous apple and espresso martinis along with an extra dirty martini for his wife. George will be remembered as a gentle and kind man with a welcoming smile and a lively story. Even after being diagnosed with prostate cancer, George continued enjoying life the way he always had. He didn’t let his illness prevent him from accomplishing goals like reaching the top of the Eiffel Tower and driving in his own BMW convertible.

Besides his wife Lynn and his mother Kunigunda, his love lives on in his three children: Josh Sherring and his wife, Amanda, of Warwick, R.I.; Michael Ando and his wife, Lindsay of Blackstone, Mass.; Joseph Ando and his husband, Edward Hunt of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; four grandchildren: Brailyn Sherring, Braedon, Dylan and Charlotte Ando; two siblings: Deborah Sherring of Portsmouth, R.I. and Katherine Sherring of Portsmouth, R.I., and his grand-dog Zak.

Family and friends may gather for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude’s Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln, RI on Friday, April 12 at 10 a.m., followed with a burial in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
