CumberlandFest announces committee appointments

CUMBERLAND – Following an open volunteer recruitment event on April 29, the CumberlandFest Executive Council has announced staffing for key operations positions.

Carol Vela is returning to lead sponsorships and the Community Business Showcase. Denise Marshall will oversee arts and crafts, Nicole Noury will be leading the CumberlandFest Food Court, and Darleen Wood will serve as a member of the entertainment committee.

“Each of these areas represent key elements of the festival, and I am really pleased to welcome these dedicated volunteers to the CumberlandFest team,” said CYCA Executive Director Ernie Labbe.

In addition to welcoming back festival favorites, Micky G’s Clam Shack and The Ice Cream Machine, Noury said that she is on the hunt to bring additional food vendors to the event and to add variety and flavors to this year’s festival.

Marshall is a second-generation member of the CumberlandFest team. Her late father, Antonio (Tony) Sousa, was one of the founding members and was a driving force of the festival for many years.

“CumberlandFest is a part of my family heritage, and I am very pleased to continue the work my dad started,” she said. “I still remember the early days, when he would bring me along to help with setting up the park.”

Organizers are still actively recruiting volunteers with various skills to be part of putting on the annual August event. Anyone wishing to volunteer should send contact information and area of interest to info@cumberlandfest.org.
