Explore Archery program begins May 25 at Diamond Hill Park

CUMBERLAND – The Cumberland Recreation Department will host its six-week Explore Archery program for ages 8 and older, which will begin Saturday, May 25, at Diamond Hill Park.

The Explore Archery program, which is developed by USA Archery and the Archery Trade Association, is an innovative education program focused on introducing archers of all ages and abilities to the lifelong sport of target archery.

Students achieve awards through active participation in individual and team building activities. The focus is on fundamental skills, a competitive edge, and a bit of creativity, not on athletic ability or perfect scores. There are five achievement awards that can be earned in Explore Archery; each award represents a new skill learned.
The Explore Archery program will give students the option to attend classes from 10 to 11 a.m. or 11 a.m. to noon. The schedule for the program will be given at the first class.

The fee is $60 for those who bring their own bows and $65 for those who need a rental.

The coach is Tom Mahoney, who is USA Level 2 certified.

To register, visit the Recreation Department office during normal business hours at 4097 Diamond Hill Road or call 401-334-9996.
