Owner Tayla Menard, of North Smithfield, makes a protein shake at The New Spot Nutrition, 3460 Mendon Road in Cumberland, a new nutrition club offering Herbalife Nutrition products including energizing and metabolism boosting teas, protein coffees, meal replacement shakes, protein bars and more.

CUMBERLAND – There’s a new spot serving healthy drinks and protein-packed snacks in town.

The New Spot Nutrition, located at 3460 Mendon Road in Cumberland, is a local nutrition club offering Herbalife Nutrition products including energizing and metabolism boosting teas, protein coffees, meal replacement shakes, protein bars, and more.

Owner Tayla Menard, of North Smithfield, said her goal is to help people achieve healthier lifestyles.

“A lot of people have mentioned they’re happy something like this is open,” she told The Valley Breeze.

The New Spot officially opened on April 15 and hosted a grand opening on May 5.

Customers can pop in for a protein shake or receive a personalized meal plan that they can follow at home.

The club also hosts weight loss challenges.

Menard, a 2015 graduate of North Smithfield High School, said that she lost 40 pounds by using the Herbalife Nutrition products and “thought I should spread it out to more people.”

Herbalife Nutrition is a global nutrition company that develops, markets, and sells dietary supplements, weight management, sports nutrition, and personal-care products.

The New Spot is partners with New Level Nutrition in Smithfield and New Rhode Nutrition in Burrillville, but they aren’t a franchise, she said.

Working at New Level Nutrition for two years “inspired me to do my own thing,” Menard said. “I thought it would be a good idea. I was good at what I was doing over there.”

Teas range from $3 to $7, and a tea and shake combo costs $9. Shakes cost $5 for a kids’ size and can go up to $16.

Enhancers and probiotics can be added to shakes, which are low in sugar and carbs and under 250 calories, Menard said.

Flavors include peanut butter cup, birthday cake, blueberry lemon, chocolate chip banana bread, and more.

There are couches, tables, and counter seats, as well as free Wi-Fi and outlets for people to sit and do work, Menard said.

“I’m really excited for more people to check it out,” she said.

The New Spot is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is closed on Sunday.
