Lincoln police seek suspect who fled traffic stop

LINCOLN – Police obtained an arrest warrant for Jefferey Joergensen, a 29-year-old resident of Pulaski Road in Chepachet, following a car stop at around 10 a.m. Friday morning where he fled the scene on foot.

A Lincoln police officer working a Click it or Ticket detail pulled over a white Chevy SUV operated by Joergensen on Twin River Road near Route 146. After pulling the driver over, the officer approached Joergensen and the registered owner of the vehicle, who was sitting in the passenger seat. When the officer returned to his vehicle to do a check of Joergensen, he saw him exit the vehicle and run into the nearby woods.

Several Lincoln officers along with the Rhode Island State Police and members of the State Police K-9 unit searched the thickly wooded area for Joergensen for several hours but were unable to find him.

Joergensen is facing charges of driving on a suspended license, obstruction of justice, and possibly other charges pending further investigation. He is also a bail violator from a previous arrest.

Joergensen is white, approximately 6 feet tall, and weighs 190 pounds. He was wearing a gray shirt, jeans, and a black hat.
