Two charged in Morse Avenue stabbing

NORTH SMITHFIELD – Two individuals have been charged following a stabbing that took place at a house on Morse Avenue last Saturday, July 20.

Alexandra Ciuraru, 26, and Matthew Durand, 25, face charges after they were allegedly involved in the stabbing of 30-year-old Brandon Chippo early Saturday morning. According to police, North Smithfield Police were dispatched to the area of Great Road and Lapre Road around 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning following a report that a man had been stabbed multiple times. Police encountered Chippo, who was suffering from multiple stab wounds on the abdomen, before traveling to a house on Morse Avenue where they believe the stabbing took place. Inside the house, police discovered Ciuraru and Durand and questioned them about the incident.

Chippo was transported to a local hospital and treated for his injuries. Ciuraru was charged with domestic felony assault and domestic disorderly conduct. Durand was charged with two counts of domestic felony assault. A third individual questioned inside the home was not charged.
