William H. “Billy” Young – Scituate

William H. “Billy” Young – Scituate

William H. “Billy” Young, 74, formerly of Scituate, was reunited with his wife, Agnes, on Sunday, August 4, 2019. On October 31, 1944 in Providence, R.I., Billy was born the son of the late Byron E. and Mary (Cibor) Young.

Billy had been employed with the town of Scituate for about two decades and enjoyed working with his hands. His life was devoted to his family and there was no mistaking the love he had for them. His wife and two daughters were his world and the reason why he worked so hard throughout his lifetime. Although a bit rough on the edges and quite stubborn at times, he was loyal, ingenious, steadfast and one of the most generous men you could have ever met. He was often referred to as MacGyver.

He loved his daughters and watching them begin families of their own. However, nothing gave him more joy than taking on the title of grandfather. His three grandchildren were his pride and joy. There is great sadness in losing such a wonderful man, but there is no more suffering and we should find joy in knowing he and Agnes are without a doubt pain-free and enjoying each other in the presence of God.

He is survived by his two daughters: Lisa Marie Benson and her husband, Rev. Mark Benson, of Bradford, R.I., and Rhonda Palmisano and her husband, Robert Palmisano, of West Greenwich, R.I.; three grandchildren: Scott Arthur Benson, Jaimee Elisabeth Benson and Olivia Elizabeth Palmisano. He was predeceased by his siblings: Byron Young, Irene (Young) Stockwell, and Ethelyn (Young) Duff-Young.

Calling hours will take place at Joy Fellowship Church, 17 Bowling Lane, Bradford, R.I., on Friday, August 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. His Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, August 10 at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
