Pearsall appointed chief information officer

SMITHFIELD – Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island has appointed information technology professional Ronald Pearsall, of Smithfield, as chief information officer.

Pearsall will provide leadership and strategic direction to the company’s information system teams and the HIPAA Security Program. He will also be responsible for the planning and execution of Neighborhood’s information system strategy. Pearsall was selected as the top candidate for this position following an extensive national search.

Prior to joining Neighborhood, Pearsall served as executive director, affiliate delivery at Aetna, a CVS Health company. Since 2001, he has held various senior level roles in IT at Aetna serving as the executive director of application software development and CIO of international among others. Before his employment at Aetna, Pearsall served as the executive director of the American Lung Association in both Alabama and the Finger Lakes Region of New York.

He is a graduate of the University of Rochester with a bachelor of arts degree in health and society and a master of science degree in education.
