Fish ladder quilt winner announced

UXBRIDGE, Mass. - The Blackstone River Watershed Council/Friends of the Blackstone has announced that Dave Newton of Cumberland is the winner of the organization's fish ladder quilt raffle.

The raffle raised more than $1,500 for the Blackstone Fish Ladder Project.

The fish ladders on the first four dams of the Blackstone River will aid in restoration and breeding of anadromous fish such as shad, herring and salmon in the river.

The winning ticket was drawn by Danny Smith, executive producer of TV's "Family Guy." Smith was in town to receive an award for his work on the show.
