Cumberland Police offer defense training for women
CUMBERLAND - The Cumberland Police Department will be sponsoring a Rape Aggression Defense System Class in November.
The R.A.D. System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. It is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is not a martial arts program.
There is no fee for the class. The class is a total of 12 hours over four nights from 6 to 9 p.m. Dates for this class are Nov. 9, 11, 16 and 18.
Contact Det. Jackie Hooper at 333-2500 or JHooper@CumberlandPolice.com.
