Make reservations for BVTC's Secret Ingredient Food Tour
PAWTUCKET - The Blackstone Valley Tourism Council is continuing its Secret Ingredient Food Tour featuring weekly behind the scenes public participation events at restaurants and food establishments in Rhode Island's historic Blackstone River Valley.
The tours give residents and visitors an opportunity to sample the foods of the Blackstone River Valley through live demonstrations and meals.
Each dining experience is $19.95 per person plus gratuity. Participants are urged to book for any and all of these events in advance. Make reservations online at tourblackstone.com/restaurants.htm or call BVTC at 724-2200 to reserve tickets.
Here are the Secret Ingredient Food Tour destinations for November and December:
Wednesday, Nov. 11: Dakar Restaurant-Senegalese, 502 Roosevelt Ave., Central Falls. Senegalese egg roll demonstration, 6 p.m.; Chebujenn, a meal of seasoned rice, fish and vegetables, will be served at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 18: Diamond Hill Vineyard, 3145 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland, 6-8 p.m. Wine tasting, with assorted cheese and fruit platter. Self-guided tour of the vineyard and the gift shop will be open for holiday shopping.
Wednesday, Dec. 2: La Arepa-Venezuelan, 574 Smithfield Ave., Pawtucket. Demonstration of how to make an arepa at 6 p.m. Venezuelan meal including arepas with assorted fillings at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 9: Brown and Hopkins Country Store, 1179 Putnam Pike, Chepachet. Celebrate the 200th anniversary of the oldest, continuously operated country store in America and enjoy holiday cheese balls, party dips, cocktail meatballs with raspberry honey mustard sauce and beverages.
Wednesday, Dec.16: Ground Round Restaurant, 2 George St., Pawtucket. At 6 p.m., learn how to make the most popular specialty drinks for the holiday season: cosmos, flavored martini's, and margaritas. Sample specialty drinks accompanied by a variety of popular appetizers including cheeses, crackers, buffalo wings, and pizza at 7 p.m.
