WOONSOCKET - Landmark Medical Center held its annual volunteer appreciation reception on April 30, honoring 230 volunteers who collectively donated 21,607 hours to the hospital in 2007. The theme was "Volunteers Plant the Seeds of Kindness." Administration and staff presented certificates of appreciation to each volunteer.
Walter Greenlund, adult volunteer, and Ghislaine Parenteau, Eucharistic minister, were presented the Commitment to Excellence Award for outstanding loyalty and dedication to the hospital.
The following volunteers received service milestone pins for achieving a level of volunteer hours:
4,500-plus hours: Connie Lafontaine.
2,500-plus hours: Joseph Fox.
2,000-plus hours: Elaine Demarjian, Eleanor Demarjian, Walter Greenlund, Lee Riendeau.
1,500-plus hours: Claire Dupont, Walter Greenlund.
1,000-plus hours: Walter Greenlund.
500-plus hours: Madeleine DeRoche, Cecile Grassini.
100-plus hours: Roland Archambault, Claire Arnold, Joan Brien, Ed Clegg, Maryanne Denelle, Carol Grieves, Kayla Grieves, Anita Laramee, Bob Scott, Sandra Therien.

Landmark Medical Center has an extensive volunteer program, with participants ranging in age from 14 to 90 working in many different areas of the hospital.
The program earned recognition from The Volunteer Center of Rhode Island for 10 consecutive years as a "Model Volunteer Program" and a special citation from the governor's office for its commitment to the "highest standards of volunteer program management."
