PROVIDENCE - The American Red Cross Rhode Island Chapter seeks teens, families and individuals from across the state to join their disaster shelter team. During times of natural or man-made disasters, the Red Cross is called upon to assist communities by opening "safe havens" for residents. These shelters need a variety of positions to function.

Participants could help their own community during a disaster by partaking in one of many positions available: registration, set up, communications (HAM radio), mass feeding, public information officer, security, health and mental health services and entertainment of both the very young and the older clientele.
