Hunter Insurance hosts community shredding event Saturday
LINCOLN - To help consumers deter identity theft, Hunter Insurance and Shred-It have teamed up to hold a free community shredding event on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon at Hunter's offices, 389 Old River Road.
A truck-mounted shredder will be available to consumers that day.
The apparatus crosscuts paper, reducing documents to pieces of confetti that are about five-eighths of an inch. The confetti-sized pieces of paper are transferred to a recycling facility and eventually return to the marketplace in the form of items such as recycled household paper products.
People can bring as many boxes of documents as they can carry. People should bring documents such as credit card and bank statements, bills, letters and old checks, but not trash.
This event is only open to individuals, not to businesses.
