Mom of North Attleboro Marine works in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND - Area patients of dentist Dr. Neal Rogol on Diamond Hill Road were saddened to learn Tuesday that the North Attleboro Marine killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan, Capt. Kyle VanDeGiesen, was the son of Ruth Ann VanDeGiesen, receptionist and scheduler in Rogol's office.

VanDeGiesen, 29, a 1998 graduate of North Attleboro High School, was due home in just a week and was expecting his second child, a son, in just a few weeks, Rogol told The Breeze.

VanDeGiesen's wife, Megan, and 17-month-old daughter live in San Diego, Calif.

His parents, Ruth Ann and Calvin, and two brothers and a sister live locally.

The helicopter collision took the lives of four Americans and injured two others.
