Animal shelter has enough parakeet food, thank you
NORTH SMITHFIELD - The town's animal shelter is up to its beak in parakeet food and thanks everyone who donated.
Forty birds were taken in after the state confiscated them for not being properly banned. A variety of birds were distributed at different facilities with the parakeets taking temporary residence at the animal shelter.
"We appreciate the kind and quick response we received to assist us in taking care of these birds," said Paulette D. Hamilton, town administrator. "I'd also like to remind everyone that we have many animals looking for a new forever home and hope they will stop by the shelter to consider adopting one." Call 766-0377 for more information.
