N. Smithfield police warn 'keep vehicles locked'

NORTH SMITHFIELD - North Smithfield Police received several reports of larceny from vehicles during the late hours of Friday night leading into Saturday morning. Several personal items, including GPS units and loose coins, were reported stolen from unlocked vehicles in the areas of Greenville Road, Follett Street and Providence Pike. The incidents are still under investigation.

Police said all North Smithfield residents should keep their vehicles locked at all times, especially with the holiday season approaching. "Opportunistic perpetrators will be among us looking for easy targets, such as unlocked vehicles and homes," a press release stated. Police encourage all citizens to report suspicious persons or vehicles in their neighborhoods.
