Claire M. Geddes - Cumberland

Born in Cumberland, the daughter of the late George H. Geddes Sr. and Agnes (Butler) Geddes, she was a lifelong resident of Cumberland. Miss Geddes was the administrative technologist and laboratory director at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island in Pawtucket for 43 years, retiring in 1989. She attended the College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee, Mass., receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in 1946. She received her M.A. degree from Central Michigan University in 1976. She was a communicant of Historic St. Joseph Church in Cumberland and a member of several Medical Technology Societies. She was a founding member and chairman of the board of the Rhode Island Schools of Medical Technology, which oversaw programs of five hospitals and four colleges. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Women's Club, the Cumberland Chapter of the AARP, the Elms College Alumni Association and the Central Michigan University Alumni Association.

She was the sister of the late Alice Draper, Mary, Grace and Helen Geddes, Agnes Teal, Anna Affleck, Ruth McLoughlin and George and Joseph Geddes.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Cumberland, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
