Born in South Kingstown, a son of Mildred V. Mudge of North Kingstown and the late William C. Mudge Jr., he had lived in North Kingstown for many years before moving to Connecticut. He was a graduate of North Kingstown High School, apprenticed at Brown & Sharpe Manufacturing Company and received his Bachelor of Science in business from Baldwin Wallace College. Mr. Mudge was an Army veteran serving during Vietnam. He was a manufacturing engineer for Parker Skinner Valve in New Britain, Conn., and he holds many U.S. patents. Besides his mother he leaves two sons, Robert L. Mudge and his wife Denise of Cumberland and Darren C. Mudge and his wife Kerrie of Cromwell, Conn.; a daughter, Jennifer L. Mudge of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two brothers, William C. Mudge III and his wife Carol and David T. Mudge and his wife Myra, all of North Kingstown; three sisters, Darlene Richards of Marlboro, Conn., and Mary Sams and Linda Wynn and her husband James, all of North Kingstown; three grandchildren, Kyle, Mitchell and Cheyenne Mudge; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Friday, May 2, 2008, at 9:45 a.m. from the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Francis de Sales Church, 381 School St., North Kingstown. Burial with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
