Francis A. Antaya Jr. - Richmond

Francis A. Antaya Jr., 60, of Richmond, R.I., formerly of Woonsocket, lost his 14-month battle with cancer Jan. 23 and died peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

A son of the late Francis A. Sr. and Florence J. (Fontaine) Antaya, he was born March 11, 1949, in Woonsocket, where he resided until moving to Richmond 25 years ago. Francis was most proud to have served as a Marine, and spent most of his time hunting and fishing with his dogs.

He leaves two sons, David F. Antaya and his companion Vicki Masse of Woonsocket and Timothy R. Antaya and his companion Kathryn Springer-Berger of Log Lane Village, Colo.; a sister, Debby Zazza and her husband David of Woonsocket; a granddaughter, Caroline Antaya of California; a niece, Vannessa Hardy of Woonsocket; and a nephew, Christopher Gignac of Rhode Island.

At Francis’ request, there will be no calling hours or Mass. The family has requested that family and friends join them Saturday, Jan. 30 between 2-5 p.m. for a lunch in Francis’ honor in the Pines Restaurant function room, Pound Hill Road, North Smithfield, Rhode Island.
