Michael Smith Dorry - Providence

Michael Smith Dorry, 33, of Independence House died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, in the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence.

Born in Houston, Texas, he was the son of Theresa Smith Dorry of North Smithfield and William A. Dorry III of North Kingstown. Michael was the Poster Child for the Rhode Island March of Dimes from 1981-1984. He greatly enjoyed the arts, writing poetry, photography and his cat, Akasha. He attended the Croched Mountain School in Greenfield, N.H.

Besides his mother and father Michael leaves his brother, William A. Dorry IV, Esq. of North Smithfield, and his grandmother, Annette Trudeau Smith of Providence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Michael Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Friday, Jan. 22 from 5-8 p.m. in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gateways to Change, 11 Knight St., Warwick, RI 02886.
