LeBlanc pledges to make Woonsocket better place to live

WOONSOCKET - Kathryn LeBlanc, 32, of 50 Edmund St., is running for City Council.

A native of North Attleboro, she is an accounting professional who has worked eight years as a project accountant for an environmental company in Massachusetts.

"I am skilled in all aspects of project life cycles including contracts, budgets, purchasing and auditing, which I feel is a great preparation to many of the challenges currently facing the city and the council," she said in a statement.

LeBlanc said, "My sole purpose for running for City Council is to make a difference in the community in which I call home. My gift in this life is that of service.

"I have an extensive background in service, to not only the communities that I have lived in, but here in Rhode Island and internationally as well these include working with Girl Scouts of Rhode Island, American Cancer Society, food pantries and soup kitchens, mission trips to Haiti and the Dominican Republic and many other organizations.

"This goes to show that I am willing to put in the time and effort without expecting anything in return and that I care about quality of life," she said.

LeBlanc continued, "I am your neighbor, friend, taxpayer, homeowner and co-worker.

"Areas where I will work with the council and the new mayor to make positive change are: contract reform, charter review, reducing wasteful spending, quality of life, maintaining many of the events that make ours an attractive community, keeping the residents of Woonsocket informed and overall just getting more bang for our buck.

"I am very conservative when it comes to spending money. Our quality of life here in the city should not be based on how much money we are spending, or outspending other communities but how hard we are working to change our city and how well we are using our resources and using those resources wisely," she said.
