Gabriele says he will bring accountability to the School Committee
WOONSOCKET - In his press release, Tony Gabriele, candidate for Woonsocket School Committee said he would bring accountability, commitment and fiscal responsibility to the School Committee if elected on Nov. 3.
"We, as a school committee, must be accountable for the students of Woonsocket's education by providing them with the best education possible by staying within the budget parameters, and not overtaxing the citizens of Woonsocket. Providing the students with after school programs, partnering with our community programs so we can reach out to our students to let them know we will work them to see that their aspirations are in reach," he said.
He continued, "Accountability does not stop with the school committee; it is on all levels of our local and state elected officials. I will fight for what I believe will be the best for our children in Woonsocket on any level of government. I have in the past and will continue to advocate for our city," said Gabriele.
"Being involved in PTO's, parent groups, subcommittees and just being a parent of a now high school freshman has given me a world of knowledge, experience and a commitment that I will use to be a successful school committee candidate," he added. "I will have an open door policy when it comes to issues. I will be approachable and will be visible to the public. I will stand firm on all my decisions, whether good, bad or indifferent."
"We, as a school committee, must prepare our students for college and the working world. I will work with the unions on teachers' contracts to insure all parties come to agreements that will work for all," he said.
He concluded "I will work to become a proactive school committee member and think outside the box. I will challenge the unfunded mandates and lobby for a Fair Funding Formula."
