Gendron seeks to create a safe, quiet city
WOONSOCKET - In his press release City Council candidate Daniel M. Gendron said that he focused his campaign two years ago on creating a safe, quiet city where residents can be proud homeowners. Gendron said that as a result of little improvement in the quality of life for Woonsocket residents, he is once again making this a top priority of his campaign.
Working with the mayor's administration and members of the City Council, Gendron plans to alleviate some of the neighborhood problems by introducing and passing ordinances that hold responsible parties accountable for existing problems with trash, litter, noise and abandoned properties.
Gendron said he will look into licensing absentee property owners much like businesses. "If these landlords fail to upkeep their properties, then the license would be revoked and they would be unable to collect rent," he said.
Additionally, Gendron said he feels that the city needs to create an environment that entices businesses to locate here. "Economic growth and development need to take place throughout the city as this will help keep taxes at the lowest rate possible," he said.
Gendron said he feels that bi-monthly meetings with the school committee should be held to review and address budget issues. "This would foster communication amongst the city departments and eliminate school budget shortfalls at the end of the fiscal years," Gendron said.
According to his press release, Dan Gendron is a lifelong resident of Woonsocket and the vice chairman of the Woonsocket Zoning Board of Review since 2003. He is director of facility operations at Friendly Nursing Home and the vice president of Capital Vending Inc. A 1981 graduate of Woonsocket High School, Gendron earned an associate degree in Business from the Community College of Rhode Island and a bachelor's degree in business management from Johnson & Wales University. He is an active member of St. Joseph's church and lives at 87 Arland Court with his wife, Ann Marie and 8-year-old daughter, Victoria.
