LINCOLN - Volunteer judges are needed to take part in the Lincoln High School Exhibition Day on Friday, May 30, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school.
The exhibition is part of the new high school graduation requirements of the state Department of Education in which students must present a formal and comprehensive research project centered on a personal interest. Through the exhibition process, students choose an area of personal interest to research, work with a mentor to assist and provide insight throughout the process, develop a meaningful core question which will drive the research, and present their findings both orally and in writing to a panel of judges composed of faculty members and community members.
"These student projects are completed with the help of mentors from the community," said Ronald Almeida, exhibition facilitator. "To have representation from the community is not only fitting, but demonstrates to our students that the spirit of community service is alive and well in Lincoln."
Participating as a judge allows community members the opportunity to view and score work produced by Lincoln High School students. Lunch will be provided to all volunteers.
If interested, call Leonora Hughes at 334-7516 or e-mail hughesl@lincolnps.org, before May 19.
There will be two training sessions for community judges: Thursday, May 29, 6-8 p.m., and Friday, May 30, 9-11 a.m., at the school. Volunteers need only attend one session.
