Macera to be honored at tonight's Connecting for Children and Families meeting

WOONSOCKET - Connecting for Children and Families holds its annual meeting tonight, Thursday, May 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 380 Social St.

Outgoing city school Superintendent Maureen Macera will be presented CCF's Catherine Boisvert Walsh Award for outstanding leadership. Awards will also be presented by retired school librarian Peg Bierden, and community supporters Catherine and Wilbert Eason.

Other dignitaries expected to attend are Catherine Boisvert Walsh from Rhode Island Kids Count; Channavy Chhay from the United Way of Rhode Island; Woonsocket School Committee member Anita McGuire-Forcier; Lisa Carcifero, executive director of the Woonsocket Prevention Coalition; Joe Garlick, executive director of NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley; Ben Lessing, executive director of Family Resources Community Action; Deborah Perry, executive director of the YWCA Northern R.I.; and Max Arias, executive director of John Hope Settlement House.
